Poll--What should I add next on Monteux?

Livi Monteux here. The site is currently undergoing a gradual but major make-over. Things are being changed, moved, added, and removed. The main things changing are the graphics, colors, fonts, etc, but other things might change as well. Hopefully this will make the site more attractive to those who happen to stumble upon it. A new major theme on the site is going to be the Monteux Penguin mascot. We are going to try to add more useful things, such as tutorials for the GIMP, and fulfill some of the poll requests, like a Monteux Thought for the Day. Check back often to see the changes.

Fri Aug 24, 2007 5:21 pm No Replies Realm of Middle Earth is now on Monteux, because of a few reasons, not limited to the fact that RoME had several fold more spambots than actual members. If you want to be able to post on the Middle Earth Boards, and you are not a past (activated) member of RoME, request to join the Middle Earth group.
Also, the new flash game is jellyblocks. Should prove interesting. 100 levels, can you do them all?

Right now, you shouldn't notice much change at all, but soon I should have a 'latest' flash game feature, and possibly a way to tag one game as a favorite, and put it at the top of the flash page, and on the main page, when you are logged in. More updates soon, when I get more time.

Wed Jul 04, 2007 6:27 am No Replies I have installed a bot blocker about a month ago, and after some tweaking, no more bots have posted. They are still joining, but since they cannot post I am happy. The blocker works by censoring words for the first x number of posts (I do not wish to say how high the x is), but anyone posting any of these words will get their post blocked with an error message. Blocked are all of the vulgar words of adult websites, most common advertising words like cheap, ect. I don't see anyone really needing these words, and posters will eventually make it past these restrictions. If you have any problems please don't hesitate to pm or email me.

If you have suggestions, post them in either as a reply to this post (recommended as you can provide so much more that way) or through the poll. I'm working on some of the options from the poll now. This page can be access from rankings page to see anybody's profile, or the home page to see your own profile. I'll add more on to this later, but you can see a bit more info about people and where they stand. One thing you can see here that you can't see elsewhere is who recruited said person, and who said person has recruited. Example, if you click on Monteux, you will see that I have recruited black mage. Click on his profile, and you will see that he was recruited by me. Enjoy.

Sat Dec 23, 2006 2:23 am No Replies I'm trying to tweak things so they go faster. You'll probably notice that I've split the main page into an arichive section as well. This should (hopefully) speed it's loading up. I'm also moving the style sheets and other things off of my fiancee's computer and onto my server to further improve load times. You'll probably notice the speedup in a few days as I'm not quite done with that yet. I've got a profile page in the works for shadows, that should be up in a week or so. Keep pulling people into the void, things will be good.

Fri Dec 22, 2006 4:40 am No Replies I've been a bit busy as late because I've gotten a couple small jobs (volunteer) coding or running message boards. Updates may come a bit slower now, but I'll not fall too far behind, need to remember where I have a slight chance of making money. Anyhow I've updated the Void to include a ranking page. Other than that, I haven't done much. I am thinking about merging the blog into the news section, since I seem to blog here and not there. I'll give that more thought, well I'm off to code.

Shadows currently is a game where you simply try to get as many people to click on your link as possible, however as time goes on I'm going to add a lot more. In the works is a vast RPG that will use this sytem (and all views you get now will help then). Also there will soon be a few ranking systems viewable. Most people pulled into the void. Most people who were pulled into the void and joined. Most people pulled into the void + 1/3 of those pulled in by those who joined. Maybe more, like an overal data. After you join a new baord becomes available on the forum Shadows. You can discuss the game there.

Another thing I'm thinking about is a custom message to greet those you pull into void. I'll keep you posted,

Sun Dec 17, 2006 9:08 pm No Replies I've updated the color and situation of the poll as per Livi's suggestion. I've also added a new flash game on the site 3D Worm. It's like snakes on slightly different. I'll try to get a couple more then I'll remove the more flash games option. Feel free to add it when you want more. More later.

Fri Dec 15, 2006 5:02 am 1 Reply Livi and I have just finished work on a new layout for COM. I'm planning a bit more soon to accommodate how the site is growing. As you can see now there are main navigation links for the entire site including in the forum. Soon I will be adding a site map containing a link to all the pages of my site, (or a simplified tiered view) to make navigation easier.
In other news, I've decided to start my blog on this site. Many updates are planned to improve it but I'll start posting up tidbits I find in there. In the works sometime in the future is some sort of major game for this site. I don't know how long it will take but when I get it done it will (hopefully) draw more people here. Since the poll is being used, I'll look for more flash games (always feel free to post to suggest specific games) and I'll start seeing about the information tools.

It's been quite quiet on the boards and site here recently so I'm going to try to change that. Don't know how yet, but I'll think of something. Feedback is always good. (do remember that you can vote once a day on the poll thing.) Since flash games is in the lead with a whopping 1 vote, I'll go look for a few more to add. As for the rest, I'll get more later.

You can now reply to news messages and discuss them from this day foward. The subject of the news is now a link, and I shall stop using the date as a subject, (as I now have a timestamp for this :D). I have also implemented the poll feature. Anything you want on this site (within reason of legality and other stuff that is spelled out in the legal notice at the bottom of each page). I plan to do more with this, and the improved news in the near future, but as for now, here it is. Tell me what you think.
