User Web Control Panel

As of October 7th, Compilation is in adition to all it's other things, a webhost. If you want to host a website on here, it will be at monteux.no-ip.org/your-account. To signup for an account, go to the forum and register. After that go to the User Web Control Panel and there you may register for an account name which may be different than your forum name.

I will not say I am superior to any free host out there, I know I fall far behind. The difference is that while there will be two ads on your site, they will be the same kind of ads you see, even on this page. No doubt you've gone to other webhosts like angelfire, tripod, or geocities where the ads on the page, are not only bulky, but extremly annoying. There will be no talking ads on your site, nor popups, nor other ads that otherwise block the content of your site.

Another difference between me and the multiple unknowns out there, is that anybody now can buy a webhost bundle that looks professional, but have no clue how to run it. Maybe there is service for a few months, but after some time you have no chance to get help. Perhaps after a while, the site simply dissapears, website and all. I can assure you, I am going nowhere. All websites on here will have accounts for as long as possible, which in my opinion is years.

You may ask, why I have ads at all on my site, and why they will be on your site. Simply put, I make a meager ammount of money off of the ads, enough to support my server (this meager ammount helped pay for a memory upgrade to solve a problem, without these ad's the site may have gone down). Now the freehosts out there that don't have ads don't make money. This should raise a red flag. If the host isn't making money, it likely won't be able to last a while. Every site, every page view, every click on the ads on my site extends it's life a bit. If you host on here, you have extended the time this server will last. If you build a good site, this server will be able to keep hosting it. In time, as this site, and all hosted on it perform well, many additional features will be added. I know right now that simply having html is not much, and php or cgi would be a great addition. I need to start small and grow, but I will admit, if you want/need cgi, php, ect, I will try to work something out. It is in my interest to make your site succeed. (Note, I am currently working on setting up a second dedicated server apart from this one two set up accounts for php, cgi, ruby, and more upon request. Depending on how things go it could be a while before it is implemented, but this is planned.)

Uploading a page is easy. After you develop the page on your computer, simply copy the contents of the page into the form on the upload page. Type in your name, password, and name you want for the page, and hit submit. Upon a successful upload, you will be given a link to your page.

Ads color customization

When you upload or edit an html page you are presented by 5 boxes below the code section to change the color of the ads. Each of those boxes is to be filled in with a 6 digit hexadecimal number, like all the other color codes using html. If this confuses you, just leave the defaults. I have put a few safteys in so that you cannot put an illeagal value in for the color, and cannot put colors in that are too close to each other, so that it is hard on the eyes. Don't be afraid to experiment. If you can't figure out how to make it work, delete all the values, and submit the form. It will come back with the defaults set in it. Submit it again to upload the page.

Bottom ad position.

If you want the ad centered, leave a center tag open. If you don't want it centered, just close it.

Counter

If you want the counter on your site, simply put a name in for the counter section. I recamend that you use the name of the page that you are uploading simply to maintain compatability with features I plan to implement in the near future. You can, however, use the same name for multiple pages, and change the name for the current page. If you want to control the counters look, it has a class='counter' so that you can use css.

Message Boards

I am also willing to host a PHPBB Message board to anyone who wants it. You will need to email me for an account. You can do so at P_WES_S *at* yahoo.com. (For those of you wondering, that is to keep me from recieving spam. Just remove the *at* and spaces, and put the regular at in.) Please add in that you want a message board in the subject, and I will contact you about details.
